The apartment is a cozy boat and is docked in quiet waters close to the Jordaan district and is suited for a romantic couple wanting to experience a unique accommodation on the waters of Amsterdam.
This boat is comfortable and has bright blue colors to give it a fresh touch. The living area, the kitchen area and the bedroom area are all in an open space which gives a very close and cozy atmosphere. The living area has a rounded couch with a table in the middle. You can watch the news on a small television set. But you can also use this round table to have your breakfast or to drink a coffee.
The open plan kitchen is small but it does have all the equipment to make a nice meal. It has an oven, a microwave, a fridge and even a coffee machine.
The sleeping area has a double bed. The toilet and the shower are in a separate room and not in the open area. The pilot house is accessible and it offers a fantastic view over the water.
Your boat is docked close to the Haarlemmerstraat a nice street with many small boutiques, bars and trendy restaurants. One of the most famous districts of Amsterdam is only minutes away. The Jordaan used to be the area of the poor blue collar workers. In the late 19th and the early 20th century many poor workers were socialists and rioted to improve their situation. Now this area has completely changed into a trendy place with many expensive apartments, trendy restaurants, typical Dutch cafes called the bruine kroegen or brown pubs and small exclusive boutiques.
The bruine kroegen have the typical Amsterdam feeling with dimmed lights, candles and a wooden interior. Do like the Dutch and try to drink a borrel, a shot of Dutch jenever or gin.
This area is also known for the markets where you can buy all sort of thing from food to antiques. You can also visit the Anne Frank house and experience the sad life of a young Jewish girl who tried to hide from the Germans during the Second World War. Unfortunately she was deported wither family to a concentration camp.
The famous Dutch painter Rembrandt lived and worked in the Jordaan. He is buried in the Westerkerk church which is located at the edge of this district. If you want to admire the famous Night Watch painting of Rembrandt then take a tram to the Museumplein and visit the Rijksmuseum. In this museum you can see more paintings of other Dutch masters like Jan Steen and Frans Hals.
