Old South / Oud Zuid Highlights

The Museumplein is the city square that holds two of Holland’s most amazing museums. This is where you can find the magnificent Rijksmuseum. This building also dates back to the nineteenth century, and partly holds a collection of the royalty families of Amsterdam. The famous Nightwatch painting by Rembrandt and The Milkmaid by Vermeer can be adored in this wonderful building. You can also find the Van Gogh Museum here, which offers thousands of works by the famous painter. For the easy going city life of the area you also have plenty of nice restaurants, little stores, and greats bars for you to enjoy. Another great thing to do here is the Albert Cuyp street market. You can find all sorts of things here, from wonderful types of fabric for clothing (designers shop here quite often) to exotic spices. Right around the corner here the Heineken Experience can be found, a visiting site that is a real treat for anybody who likes beer.
