In less than ten minutes you can reach Sarphati Park and the Albert Cuyp Market which runs every day apart from Sundays. While there try the popular Dutch snacks kibbeling, stroopwaffels or harring. For the Dam Square and neighbouring Red Light District take Tram 4 from the nearby Lutmastraat which will take you to the Dam in about ten minutes.
