Just across the water is the Plantage district which has a number of family friendly attractions such as Artis Zoo, Hortus Botanicus, Hermitage Amsterdam and the Royal Theatre Carre. You also have a second neighbouring area called Dapperbuurt where you will find the stalls of Dapper Market within minutes on foot from your holiday apartment; the market is open Mondays to Saturdays, 9am to 5pm and has around 250 stalls with a range of products such as fresh produce and clothing. If you flew into Amsterdam it is easy to reach Schiphol by train from Amsterdam Centraal and Centraal is only a short bus ride away from the apartment with the bus that runs right outside. Around the corner is a tram station with the number 10 tram that you can board for Rijksmuseum and Leidse Square.
