The Oostenburg area that you are in was once home to the Dutch East India Company and you will see some of its buildings still in-situ such as the next door building that houses the Werkspoormuseum. See the national maritime history at the nearby Scheepvaartmuseum or walk a little further and have a fun few hours in the exciting NEMO Science Centre. The entrance to Artis Zoo is just over a ten minute walk away and opposite it you will find the Hollandsche Schouwburg and the Verzetsmuseum. Your road is serviced by regular buses that you can use to go to Amsterdam Centraal for a quick train ride to Schiphol Airport, to Dam Square for shopping and site seeing, and to the Red Light District for fun day or night. You will find a tram 10 station around the corner which will quickly take you to Leidse Square and the Rijksmuseum.
