Amsterdam’s Eastern Islands are a great place to use as the base of your holiday. The area was once home to the city’s thriving shipping industry in the 17th century so walking through the neighbourhood you will still see some of the grand buildings that were then used as warehouses or rope houses; this includes the building that this holiday rental is set inside and also the nearby building where Het Scheepvaartmuseum can be found. Some of the city’s most loved attractions are in the neighbouring Plantage district and you can even walk to Artis Zoo, Hollandsche Schouwburg or the Verzetsmuseum in about ten minutes. Getting to the city centre where you will find Dam Square, the Red Light District and Amsterdam Centraal is easy and takes only a few minutes with the bus that runs on your street; the area is great for day and night time fun. For night’s out many also venture to Leidse Square which is inside the Canal Belt and you can get there in fifteen minutes by tram 10 from around the corner.
