With a generous space for up to 8 persons, exciting designer interiors and central location, the apartment provides great accommodation for those after unique Amsterdam experience.
Spreading over four floors, this stylish apartment offers an unusual amount of space - a plus for larger groups or families, ensuring a high level of comfort and intimacy at the same time and a feel of contemporariness while boasting some amazing authentic accents throughout. The impressive features in the form of magnificent wooden floors, intriguing ceiling beams, large windows and toned-down hues applied overall make the place feel both chic and cosy.
Inside, you get two well-planned living areas, both furnished with plenty of seating elements and coffee tables, including one with a flatscreen TV for some home entertainment. The dining room, serving as a walk-through between the daily area and the kitchen, comes with a big dining table, ready to provide place for all the guests staying in the apartment and the said open-type kitchen is equipped with a rich choice of useful amenities, ready to be used for homelike cooking according to your own preferences. The apartments comes with a modern bathroom with a shower, bath and sink and toilet. The five bedrooms give you a sense of privacy and comfort while retaining a fresh and modern feel, like the flatscreen TV sets found in two of them. The choice of the bedrooms is between onedouble-bed and four single-beds and the attic area – less suitable for the children, disabled or elderly – with two single beds and a surprising remnant of the past – a true wooden pick-up wheel; the single bedroom on the third floor offers also access to the balcony where you can admire the lovely surroundings of the nearby flower market.
As you can tell by the name, the apartment is situated at the bank of the Singel canal which is the most central water basin of the rings surrounding the city centre. With plenty of Amsterdam’s major attractions and sights just a few steps away, like the exciting Rembrandtplein or Leidesplein – both known to be the city’s busy nightlife centres or the floating vibrant and lively flower market, the area offers some true active, as well as more leisurely excitement.
With an array of friendly and inviting nearby bars, restaurants and cafés (Divertimento, Garlic Queen or Ocho Latin Grill) you may find it really comfortable just to wander through the surroundings of the canal, or you can take a tram and travel further, into the inner part of Amsterdam. However, it is advised that you try to explore this amazing area on foot, with a special focus on the northern section, the Spui, that is. Once you’re there, you’ll surely notice the huge variety of bookstores surrounding the square, which itself offers an art market with professional artists displaying their works and selling them directly to the passers-by. It is common to hear some live music associating the fair as well, making the whole experience truly unique.
From there it is only a stone’s throw to get to the charming Begijnhof – the oldest inner court in Amsterdam, consisting of a group of traditional tall town-houses. It is placed at medieval street level, i.e. one meter below the rest of the centre of the old city, so don’t be surprised when you suddenly feel like everything around you got much higher.

We are four friends who stayed in the Grand Canal house for a week last May. We can absolutely recommend this rental! The central address (flower market) and the very charming and roomy house itself were perfect and we enjoyed \"coming home\" after a long day of museum visits and sightseeing! Supermarkets and other shops right around the corner - The house was very clean, large bedrooms and a lot of space for sitting down comfortably. The Short Stay Group people were very helpful - at the airport as well as at the town office. It does mention in the description that the house is difficult for elderly people because of the stairs. We are all elderly - but if you are in allright shape it is not a problem (apart from the fifth bedroom on top - a very nice room but the way up can hardly be called a staircase...; however, it is possible).
