Have you ever dreamt of living in an original 18th century canal house on an Amsterdam canal? The 3-bedroom Jordaan Orange House provides stunning accommodation for up to 4 guests in the beating heart of the city and is ready to make your dreams come true.
Spread across four floors, this outstanding property has lots of original features intact to remind you of its age. You are sure to fall in love with the sleek wooden flooring, high ceilings and lovely original large windows. At the ground floor you will find a fully fitted kitchen and handsome oval dining table and chairs where you can prepare delicious meals for serving up to your guests. An ingenious glass partition in the floor here allows lots of light to flood downstairs in to the lower ground floor where one of the bedrooms is located. Take the stairs up to the first floor where you will find a comfortable living room area with two large sofas and a flat screen TV installed with lots of international channels. Head up the stairs once more to the top floor where you will find two more bedrooms. Since this is the roof space the rooms feature sloped walls and have original exposed wooden beams creating two very romantic sleeping spaces. The apartment also features two bathrooms installed with two showers, a bath, two toilets and two sinks. This delightful and unique property promises to be so much more personal and sociable than staying in a collection of hotel rooms. It’s much nicer to stay together under one roof making this a holiday to remember for all the right reasons.
Located just a short walk to the west fom Central Station, the Jordaan Orange House is perfectly situated for all your holiday adventures. The world famous Red Light District is only a walk across Damrak taking around 7 minutes. The iconic Dam Square is a great place to grab a coffee and watch the hundreds of people, cyclists, street performers and pigeons going about their business day and night.
The apartment itself is located on the Brouwersgracht Canal, one of the city’s prettiest waterways. It nestles perfectly amongst the tall, wonky traditional town houses, charming house boats and pretty footbridges that light up romantically at night time. It’s hard to believe that the local council considered knocking down a large section of this fairy tale like environment to make way for an access road into the city. Following many street protests and outright battles the plans were eventually torn up. Only recently the entire old city centre was been added to the UNESCO list of protected locations of historic and architectural importance to preserve it for future generations to enjoy.
If you are a keen shopper then you will be pleased to know that the apartment is sandwiched between two of the city’s most popular shopping streets. The fantastic Harlemmerstraat on one side was recently voted as the Netherlands’ most popular independent shopping street. You will surely enjoy exploring the wide range of goods on offer. Look out for speciality cheese and bread shops, vintage and latest fashion boutiques, unusual gift shops and a cinema. At the other side of the apartment lies the long and winding Nieuwendijk. This and its sister street the Kalverstraat are joined together by Dam Square and are the place to find a wealth of local and international chain stores as well as some independent outlets and fast food haunts. It’s easy to get lost on these streets as some stores are replicated not only on both streets but on the same street, just to confuse you.
If you want to escape the busy city then head to the end of the Harlemmerstraat where you will find the entrance to the Westerpark. Here you can relax under a tree with a good book or enjoy a picnic alongside one of the water features and open grassy spaces.

Staying here mead us feel as though we were natives in Amsterdam. We met and befriended some of the neighbors and were really made to feel at home. Loved our stay in Jordaan Orange House, and will stay there the next time we come to A-dam

The owner of the apartment Hus went well above the call of duty when we encountered problems on our way home. I would recommend this apartment just for his willingness to help, let alone the fact that it was perfectly located and spacious
