You can’t go wrong with a central location like the Jordaan district. You are just a short walking distance from many tourist attractions, popular sites, restaurants, cafes, bars and shopping areas. The district has a number of canals that run through it which gives it a scenic setting every day. Rent a bike during your stay and you may not even have to use the trams or buses. But if you prefer public transport then the trams are the preferred choice in Amsterdam. Just a five minute walk away along the Prinsengracht canal is the world famous Anne Frank House where Anne and her family were in hiding during the holocaust. A statue of Anne stands outside of the neighbouring church Westerkerk. For plays and live comedy head to the Rozentheatre which is just a three minute walk away on Rozengracht. For shopping, site seeing and general tourist escapades walk over to Dam Square which is about ten minutes away and is also the home of the Royal Palace, De Bijenkorf department store and the National Monument.
