Eastern Park Apartment Suite 6

The Eastern Park Apartment Suite 6 is a luxurious one bedroom apartment located in the Plantage District and is ideal for 2 persons seeking a stylish accommodation on the edge of the city centre.

This apartment has a beautiful design but also a relaxing atmosphere. Renato Perotti, a local architect from Amsterdam did a wonderful job designing these apartments.

The living area has two modern designed sitting chairs and a sofa which can also be used to sleep on. The coffee table is white and modern like the two sitting chairs and you can watch the latest news on the flat screen or look for news back home on your laptop on the dining table with 4 modern barstools. Wireless internet is available.

The kitchen is open and has an oven, a microwave, a fridge and even a dish washer. So make a fresh coffee with the coffee machine and stare at the dish washer while it is doing its work. This kitchen is equipped to prepare a nice meal for your family or for your guests.

The bedroom comes with two single beds and the large, classy bathroom has a shower, a bathtub and a toilet.

Important Information
Please note that a baby cot is available for an extra charge of Euro 40 per night.

Location

This apartment is named after the Oosterpark or Eastern Park. This was the first park in Amsterdam which was set up in 1880. In the summer many families go for a pick nick on the large grass field. You can sit on a bench and watch the birds in or near the pond. In 2004 the murder of the Dutch writer and artist, Theo Van Gogh by a Muslim fundamentalist shocked Amsterdam and The Netherlands. A sculpture called the Schreeuw or in English the Scream commemorates this murder.

Take tram number 9 and it will take you to the Rembrandtplein in 15 minutes. From here you can go by foot to many interesting places in the centre of Amsterdam like a boot tour on the canals. The Canal Belt is a ring of canals in the centre part of Amsterdam. The Dutch word for canal is gracht. The most famous canals are the Herengracht, Keizersgracht and the Prinsengracht.

Especially the houses on these canals are monumental and date from the 17th century when Amsterdam was the richest city in the world due to the spice trade with the Dutch Indies.

Amsterdam had a high Jewish population before 1940. To learn more about or experience the persecution of the Jews during 1940-1945 then you can visit the Anne Frank house. This museum is dedicated to the Jewish girl Anne Frank who hid with her family from the Nazi persecution during the Second World War. Eventually Anne Frank and her family were deported to the German concentration camps with many other Amsterdam Jews.
