Being located in the Niewe Pijp allows you to have a quiet stay in a residential area but with a number of places of interest in the immediate surroundings, with the main city centre never being too far away. In a ten minute on-foot radius you can reach the small but charming Sarphati Park, the buzzing Albert Cuyp Market, Amsterdam’s Amstel River and the UNESCO listed Canal Belt where central Amsterdam lives day and night. If you plan on being on constant move you could opt for renting a bike to make your journeys quick, scenic and cheaper. Amsterdam is a bike friendly city where the locals opt for this favourite Dutch mode of transport. There are even organised bike excursions by some bike rental providers which make a fun group activity. Otherwise there are tram stations only a short walk away. Tram 4 can get you to the RAI Centre in about ten minutes or Dam Square in the opposite direction in also ten minutes. While at the Dam you could visit the Old Church at the Red Light District.
