Right next door is one of these buildings and it houses the Werkspoormuseum where you can see items on display from the VOC period and the later Werkspoor machine factory. For family friendly fun go to the neighbouring Plantage district that brings you Artis Zoo, Hortus Botanicus, Hollandsche Schouwburg, Verzetsmuseum, Koninklijk Theater Carre and Hermitage Amsterdam. Catch the bus outside and find yourself within minutes at NEMO Science Centre, Dam Square, the Red Light District and Amsterdam Centraal. There are also trams around the corner that can take you very quickly for nights out at Leidse Square.
