Amsterdam’s Eastern Islands is the ideal location for people who want to be centrally located but inside a residential area. This part of Amsterdam was used by the Dutch East India Company and nearby you will find Het Scheepvaartmuseum which is the national maritime museum and next to it a replica of its ‘Amsterdam’ cargo ship. Being located on the edge of this district gives you two neighbouring districts that you can walk into for a few popular attractions. About a five minute walk into the Dapperbuurt will bring you to the exciting Dapper Market which runs on Mondays to Saturdays. Walk into the Plantage District and spend relaxing outings at the likes of Artis Zoo, Hortus Botanical Gardens, the Royal Theatre Carre and Hermitage Amsterdam Museum. Your road is serviced by buses and a short ride away is Amsterdam Centraal and the buzzing city centre around it which includes Dam Square, the Red Light District and China Town.
