Location

This apartment is located in a lovely, typical Amsterdam area. There is an open air market where you can buy vegetables, fruit, fish and even meat to take back to your apartment and use these ingredients to make a proper meal. There are many shops, restaurants and brown cafes. If you really want to taste Amsterdam then go and have a shot of Dutch jenever or a cold beer in one of these brown cafes. These cafes are called brown because the original white walls have turned brown thanks to the smokers. In these cafes you will meet the locals.

About a ten minutes walk away you will reach the Central Station. From this station you can hop on a tram or a bus and go all over Amsterdam. Take a tram to the Museumplein and visit the tree museums located on this square. So go to the Rijksmuseum and admire some paintings like the portrait of a young couple of Frans Hals or the Night Watch of Rembrandt or the other paintings of the other Golden Age painters like Vermeer, Steen etc. When you have seen enough paintings of the Golden Age and want to see expressionist paintings then the Van Gogh museum is a must. You can admire two self portraits of this famous painter.

The Dam square is the heart of Amsterdam. When the weather is nice then this square is filled with tourists, locals and street performers. The tall pillar on this square is a monument to commemorate people who died during the Second World War in the Netherlands. Along the Dam you will see some majestic buildings, one is the Krasnapolsky Hotel and on the other is the Royal Palace. Queen Beatrix does not live in this palace but uses it as the place to host foreign presidents and royals.

Great apartment. I traveled with a group of 5 people and we had a blast. It was a great location and I would recommend it to anyone looking to be centrally located.
